Timeline · Phrases for your invitation · FAQ
When to do each thing. It's a guideline: every family adjusts the timing to its own pace.
Pick the date, the place and who's hosting. Ask mom for her guest list.
Create the invitation and your gift registry. Tell out-of-town guests first.
Send the invitation to everyone else on WhatsApp and ask them to reply if they're coming.
A friendly reminder to anyone who hasn't replied. Finalize food and games.
Keep the invitation open on your phone: address and time in one place.
Thank each gift with a personal message.
Use it right in your invitation or copy it for your WhatsApp message.

The essentials and the extras.
Essentials: mom's name (or both parents'), who's hosting, date, time and place. Optional but appreciated: gift registry, whether kids are welcome, dress code and a phrase that sets the tone. You can add all of that to your invitation under "Details for your guests".
Only if the parents want to share it. Many families save it for the birth; in that case "[name]'s baby" is enough.
With one clear line in the notes: "Little ones are welcome" or "Adults-only celebration".
If there's a color theme (for example, pastel tones for the photos), say it in one sentence. If not, it's better not to add requirements. A fun idea: "By your Team", blue for Team Boy and pink for Team Girl.
Timing, guest list and who's hosting.
Between 4 and 6 weeks before the event. For small WhatsApp gatherings, 2 or 3 weeks is usually enough. Much earlier and people forget; much later and they already have plans.
It's a personal and cultural decision, not a medical one. Many families celebrate in the third trimester, leaving some margin before the due date. For health questions about dates or travel, check with the professional who follows your pregnancy.
Traditionally a close friend, a sister or the family hosts, and their name appears as host. Today it's normal for mom to help with the list and the design, or for the couple to host it.
Mom approves the list. Think about the space, leave room for plus-ones and, if someone lives far away, a personal message saying there's no pressure to come is appreciated.
More and more common. If dad and his friends are joining, say so in the invitation so nobody is surprised by the format.
Yes. Many families throw a "sprinkle": more intimate, with practical gifts (diapers, clothes) instead of big items they already have.
How to ask without making it awkward.
Yes. Unlike a wedding, it's accepted at a baby shower. You can add a gift suggestion and the link to your registry (for example, on Amazon) to your invitation under "Details for your guests".
Ask them in your message to reply by a certain date and use a single channel, such as WhatsApp. One friendly reminder a week before is enough. Coming soon: your guests will be able to confirm from the invitation itself.
Thank them for replying and don't mention gifts. Anyone who wants to send something will do it on their own.
Yes. A personal message for each gift within the following two weeks is the usual practice.
Yes, it's more and more common (a "diaper shower" or a contribution toward the crib). Explain it naturally and always leave the option of a free-choice gift.
When the baby's sex is part of the party.
Yes. Pick a neutral design and edit it once you know: the link you already shared will show the new version.
Yes. Mention it in the invitation and ask guests not to ask beforehand or spoil it if they already know. With Premium, each guest votes Team Boy or Team Girl when they open their invitation and you see the scoreboard live.
WhatsApp, links and video calls.
A personal greeting, a short phrase and a single link where they can see every detail. Avoid heavy images: if the time changes, with the link you don't have to resend anything.
No. The invitation opens in the phone's browser from the link.
Yes. Change the date, time, address or design from this page; guests will see the updated version when they open the same link.
Choose the video call platform, put the link and the time with the time zone in the invitation notes, and prepare one or two short games so people can join from home.
Digital for speed and corrections; printed when you want a physical keepsake. You can download your invitation as an image and print it: it has a QR code that opens the digital version.
To keep the party flowing.
Two to three hours is typical: arrival and food, one or two games, gifts and goodbyes.
It's a tradition, but optional. If there are lots of gifts, you can thank everyone as a group and open them later so the party doesn't drag on.
Account, price and privacy.
You do: with your Boy or Girl account you save your baby showers and edit your invitations. Your guests don't need an account.
Free: create your baby showers, choose the design and phrase, and share the general invitation with a QR code, a link and an image download. With Premium ($9.99 a month) you add the guest list, a personal invitation for each guest, one-tap WhatsApp sending and the Team Boy vs Team Girl scoreboard.
Only people who have the invitation link. Don't post it on public profiles if you'd rather keep the address private.
Yes: one with family, another with coworkers, a virtual one. Each has its own invitation.
