The practice of Yoga during Pregnancy Date:04 May 2024

From conception, numerous internal changes are triggered, a great exchange of hormones. Hormones are chemical messengers through endocrine glands and the placenta. They act in coordination with the nervous system, guarantee the perfect functioning of the organs, carry out pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. Many of the physical and psychological changes are due to hormonal secretions. As a result of this great hormonal game that is unleashed, there is a change in a physical, psychological and emotional order. The demands of today's life mean that the mother is no longer so calm waiting for her baby, but rather with many activities and worries. For this reason it is very important that she perform physical activity. Yoga is an activity that is highly recommended to accompany this period of life, as long as the mother chooses it and does it conscientiously, with commitment and with pleasure. Asanas Asanas are postures that serve to prevent and recover both physical and metabolic problems - they have an influence on the endocrine system - responsible for the overall balance in our body. These asanas are accompanied by breathing and have the characteristic of being harmonious, with soft, slow, relaxed and conscious movements. The pregnant woman is not a sick person, her body and mind are perfectly adapted to this function. The woman at this moment in life is in the fullness of her life. If she has discomfort, most of it is due to the demands of daily life. Yes, we must take into account the changes that the body is going to present and require special care. The pelvis has four main joints, joined by ligaments, these make the joint have limited movement, but during pregnancy the play of the joints increases, due to the secretion of the hormone Relaxin. This ratio of increased flexibility in the joints plays a very important role at the time of childbirth.
